Assistive Status

Learning Resources provides a wide range of services for both staff and students who have identified themselves to the University as having a disability. Students are identified via the Student Records System (SITS) whilst staff are identified via the HR System (TRENT). These staff and students may request additional services as detailed below.

Individuals who disclose a disability to LRC/Library Staff which is not known to the University, will be referred to the Health & Wellbeing Team.

Services available to individuals with assistive status include:

  • Individual assistance
  • Unlimited renewals
  • Waived fines (excludes other sanctions including blocked borrowing and charges for replacement)
  • Specialist software and equipment
  • Training in the use of specialist software
  • All LRCs are accessible to wheelchair users
  • Lifts are available to allow access to all floors
  • Staff are disability aware and happy to help you

If you have any specific comments or requests regarding our services please direct them to the Head of Reader Services, Sarah Arkle at sarah.arkle@beds.ac.uk or at any LRC Customer Service Desk.
