Training

  • Information skills training – e.g. Harvard Cite Them Right referencing
  • Subject specific resources
  • Searching DISCOVER
  • Using electronic resources - e.g. e-journals, e-books
  • Finding quality subject information on the web
  • Dissertation preparation

Teaching Support

Resources

  • Ordering resources – by request and selection (e.g. books, journals, digital resources)
  • Adequate set texts – on varying loan periods
  • Updates – new resources added to the library, and updates on new electronic resources
  • Guides - print and online guides, e.g. guides to subject resources
  • Digital book chapters and journal articles - request digital copies of chapters and / or journal articles to add to your Breo units
  • Reading list training - training in the use of our reading list software

Other

  • Aproval and development of new courses – support, resources suggestions
  • Committee attendance - e.g. SSECs, FABs, FTQSCs, Staff/Student Consultative Committees
  • Copyright & plagiarism - advice, e.g. course pack creation, assistance in identifying plagiarised texts
  • Reading lists - help with finding resources for course reading lists including Open Education Resources (OERs)

Research Support

  • Current awareness – set up alerts from databases, publishers and RSS feeds, to keep up to date on new publications in your field
  • Document supply - sourcing items external to UoB libraries
  • Off-campus access to electronic resources - advice on access
