What is expected of me?

The first step in success with an assignment is to make sure that you understand exactly what is being asked of you. Read your module handbook and any guidance you are given and look at the marking criteria. If you are unclear about any aspect of your assignment ask your lecturer.

Do you know:

• How many words you have to write?
• How many references you should include?
• What type of references they should be? (e.g. peer-reviewed journal articles). Is this specified?
• How to reference your sources?
• What the marking criteria are?
• How the assignment is to be submitted?
• When the assignmemt is due in?

Using library resources:

It is likely that you will be expected to use a range of different resources to help you to write your assignments. These might include:

• Reference books
• Books
• Journals
• Newspapers
• Government websites & official reports
• Statistics
