Accessing Digital Resources

You can access most digital resources the library subscribes to from home as well as from computers at the University (although if you have very overdue books you will find your account blocked). The catalogue record for each resource gives one or more links you can use to access it.

If you are on campus, the simplest route is to click the first link provided in the catalogue record, which will usually take you straight to the resource without you having to login again.

You can also use this link from a computer at home or elsewhere, but will be asked to verify your identity by giving your username and password.

For many resources we also have an alternative way of logging on off-campus, using the link headed "via UK Access Management Federation". This uses different technology for verifying your identity, but the result is the same, you will still be able to access the electronic resources the library subscribes to using your username and password.

You may have to select "University of Bedfordshire" from a list of universities before getting a login screen.

You can also use this route on campus if you wish, but will still need to enter your username and password. Some resources offer personalisation features tied to your individual account and to take advantage of these you will need to use this access route.

Remember your university username and password will only give you access to resources we subscribe to.

Having two separate methods is a way for us to provide you with alternative access routes in case of IT problems.

A few resources have their own particular logins – details of these are provided in the individual catalogue record.

Still Stuck?

If you owe the University of Bedfordshire money, or have £22 or more in library fines, then your account may be blocked and you will be unable to login to any digital resources until you have settled your account at one of our enquiry points.

If you are still having difficulties with using a particular resource or would like to report a problem with a service in the Digital Library, please email: library.technical@beds.ac.uk
