Searching for Digital Resources
Searching for Digital Resources
DISCOVER is your simplest gateway to the library's collection of digital resources. There is more information on how to use it here. DISCOVER searches journal articles from (most of) the collections the university has access to, as well as the books and ebooks we have.
However, if you have a particular book or database in mind it may be quicker to use the Library catalogue. Everything in the Library catalogue is also in DISCOVER, (except for exam papers), but DISCOVER contains a lot more, and can sometimes overwhelm you with results.
You can search the catalogue for digital resources in a variety of ways:
- Use the Quick Search tab if you know the name of the resource you want (a database, an ejournal or an ebook)
- Use the Advanced search to search for edissertations
- Use the Digital Library tab and use the drop down menus for the different types of resources
Once you've found the resource you want to use look there are sometimes two or more access options:

These use different behind-the-scenes stuff to login you in to the resource, but don't worry, both use your usual UoB username and password. There is more information on UK Access Management Federation here.
