• Artists' own websites - many artists and designers have created their own web sites, most of these will be retrievable through a search engine.

• British Library's Archival Sound Recordings  contains 12,000 recordings, including interviews with artists and designers.

• Artcyclopedia  Extensive site can be searched by the name of artist, title of work of art, art gallery, nationality and art movement. Also has a listing of women artists.

• Axis  A database of professional practising artists living and working in the UK. Artists have to apply to be included on this web site so it is not a complete database of all British artists. It is very useful for tracing lesser known artists.

• Artists Org  gives brief information about movements and individual contemporary artists and designers. Useful for looking at selected images of an artist's work.

• Artists Talking collection of artists' blogs

• Great Buildings Online  This database documents 1000 buildings, 3d models, photographs, drawings and bibliographies.
