Welcome to the Academic Integrity Resource (AIR)
The AIR has been designed to introduce you to academic integrity and how to demonstrate this during your studies. It covers:
- What is academic integrity?
- How to show academic integrity
- University response to academic integrity violations
- Proofreading, editing, artificial intelligence (AI) and academic integrity
- A quiz to check your understanding
Please watch the video below to give an overview. If you need to view with captions click the [CC] icon at the bottom.
As a university student you are now part of an academic community.
Joining this community brings a number of responsibilities. Every UK university has strict rules and regulations about academic integrity. Your lecturers will check that you are following these rules when they mark your assignments. If you fall foul of these rules (even accidentally) you will lose marks and could even face charges of academic misconduct. It is therefore important that you understand what is meant by academic integrity and how to demonstrate this in your assignments. Completing the AIR will help you to do this.
To get off to a flying start, you are required to complete this exercise within 6 weeks of starting your course. As this resource is online, you can choose to work through it at a time to suit you. However, we recommend that you complete this as soon as possible.
A full copy of the University of Bedfordshire academic integrity regulations is available from the Academic Integrity pages of the University's website.
