The Librarians have written a number of subject guides that tell you about the resources that support the subjects taught at the University. They are a great starting point to see what’s in the library collection that you’ll need to use to develop your knowledge.

You’ll hear people talk about the Digital Library. Basically, this is the electronic content of the library collection, such as ebooks, newspapers, journals etc.

The Digital Library means you have access to key resources to support your learning 24/7, it doesn't matter where you are - on campus, at home or overseas, articles, books and databases are just a click away.

Ebooks form the bulk of your reading lists so it is good to get to grips with what’s available and how to use ebooks early in your journey.

DISCOVER is how you search the digital library, the databases, the ebooks, newspapers, electronic journals, the print library collection (via the library catalogue) to find information to develop your knowledge and understanding. You search by title, key phrases, keywords and results are returned for you to evaluate.

You will need to use your username and password to access the resources.

But you will get a lot of results, because DISCOVER is searching a lot of information sources the University has access too.

That’s why it is important to attend information literacy lecturers as part of you course, you’ll learn about developing search phrases / terms and search techniques to get relevant and reliable information.
