Beyond DISCOVER

Learning Resources hope that all of the students and staff make the most of DISCOVER but like any other electronic resource, DISCOVER does not contain every piece of scholarship.

Learning Resources care about your success at the University of Bedfordshire. Regardless of whether you are an undergraduate student or a Professor we want to inform you about how to develop and widen your reading to a level where you can maximise your impact.

As part of this aim, we launch the Beyond DISCOVER page and the recently acquired Scopus Database.

Scopus

Scopus is the largest database for abstracts and citations of peer-reviewed research in the market with records over 19,500 peer reviewed publications around the world.

The Scopus database has over 46 million records as early as 1823 with 72% of these records having references dating from 1996.

That sounds great! What does it really do then?

Ever want to broaden your horizons with the literature you use?

Ever want to know what journals and articles are the most popular when researching an idea?

Ever wish you could find a way to know about more research on an idea when writing assignments?

Ever wish there was a way to tell you where the quality articles when researching an idea are?

If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then Scopus is for you!

Who benefits most from using Scopus?

Everyone willing to give the database a try. Learning Resources would highlight how beneficial the Scopus coverage is for researchers interested in the social sciences or humanities compared to other resources.

So does this mean Scopus for staff and PhD students only?

Definitely not. All students and staff can access Scopus.

Citation databases are for students of all academic levels. Undergraduate students should not be deterred.

I'm sold. How do I use it then?

The hyperlink to Scopus should take you to the catalogue record. Also view the video below for a guide showing how to access Scopus.
