To improve the quality of our services and your experience as a student, the University is making some changes to the IT infrastructure this summer.

In progress: myBedsLife Portal update

The MyBedsLife mobile app will receive an update from the respective Google Play or Apple App Stores.

Early July: Password policy changes

ICT are making changes to the password processes to improve security. We are moving from a minimum of eight characters to a minimum of 16, and the expiry period will change to 365 days.

Early July: DISCOVER folders update

On 8 July, the Library will be updating access to the DISCOVER Folders option to make Folders easier to use.

However, there is a possibility that the updating may overwrite the contents of some users’ existing folders. Students who use Folders in DISCOVER should therefore follow these instructions [PDF] before 8 July 2019 in order to save their references and articles.

End of July: Outlook replaces Gmail for student email

At the end of July, Microsoft Outlook will replace Gmail for student email. If you are a returning student, you will still be able to access your student Gmail account, but all new emails will be sent to your Outlook account.

End of July: Office 365 available

At the end of July, , Office 365 Online (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) will also be available for students in addition to the desktop versions of Office.
