Welcome to the Library

We are delighted to be welcoming back our staff and students to our Campus Libraries.  Things are slightly different to what you might expect as we have been working to make the library safe for you.

What have we done to prepare for your arrival?

  • fever scanning at our campus entrances
  • one way system around the campus
  • sanitisation stations - so you can sanitise your hands and work stations before and after use
  • reduced the number of people allowed into the library at a time to enable social distancing
  • 2m social distancing throughout the library
  • Screens at our Customer service desks

What we need you to do to minimise and risk of infection:

  • Wear a mask
  • Maintain social distancing at all times
  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Use the sanitisation station to sanitise your hands (between washes) and work station before and after use

Our return plans include temporarily reduced opening hours – please check our opening hours pages for details.

Please note that due to the libraries operating at reduced capacity, no external customers are allowed into the library until further notice.

Library entry will be from one point on campus:

Bedford Campus: the Gateway Building

Luton Campus: Ground floor entrance of the Library

Aylesbury: ground floor

Milton Keynes: ground floor entrance to Exchange House then up to the second floor

There will be some changes to the range of services face to face offered as some will remain online only.

If you need help with study skills, please email studyhub@beds.ac.uk.

Take a look at our Bedford gallery and Luton gallery to see what the libraries look like now or see what we are doing to keep you safe.
