Secure Electronic Delivery

Secure Electronic Delivery

The majority of journal article requests may now be delivered directly to your PC via Secure Electronic Delivery (SED)

SED for Document Supply items is for University of Bedfordshire level 3 under graduates, postgraduate researchers and staff.

To use this service you are required to use University e-mail.  Check on a regular basis for the email from the British Library with the subject heading British Library - Secure Electronic Delivery from the email address archie@bl.uk

You will need to install FileOpen. FileOpen is a free plugin for Adobe Reader and is recommended by the British Library for sending articles as PDF attachments to university email accounts

Installing the Software

Download the plugin here  http://fileopen.bl.uk

To check that the plugin is working download the test document (http://fileopen.bl.uk)

For more information on FileOpen http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/atyourdesk/docsupply/help/receiving/deliveryoptions/electronic/fileopen/

Make your Request

Go to the Forms page and complete the appropriate form

Save your request

On receipt of a SED e-mail you are strongly advised to choose the Save option (rather than Open) from the  download dialogue box. This way you will have access for 14 days. If you just Open the document it will be lost when you close it. You may print it once.

If you want a print out from a University printer you are strongly advised to NOT open the article from a laptop. Webprint cannot print from secure PDFs.  Open the articles on a University PC rather than using a personal laptop (save as described above).
