Who we are and What we do

Learning Resources supports the academic life of the University by providing cutting edge resources and study environments.

You will automatically registered to use our facilities when you join the University.

Services are based at five campuses:

We aim to provide consistent, integrated services to provide access to collections which are varied, current, rich and relevant to the curriculum

PCs are provided in all Learning Resources Centres which offer access to a wide range of applications including

Learning Resources has an expanding collection of information resources, taking advantage of the full range of publishing media; books, video and audio cassettes, off-air recordings of television programmes, slides and information on microfiche, together with some 2000 print journal titles as well as electronic resources including: over 80 research databases, ebooks and multi media products, more than 20,000 ejournals past exam papers

Study Facilities

Learning Resources provides a range of study environments including silent study areas, social learning spaces, small group working spaces, dvd/video/tv viewing rooms and group study facilities.

Services

Materials have a specified loan period to ensure that high-demand items are kept in circulation. A full range of supporting services are provided, such as reservations, Document Supply, access to printing and photocopying facilities. The library catalogue provides in-depth information about individual titles including electronic information resources. A wide range of printed and online information is available to advise students how to get the best from Learning Resources' services and facilities.

Customer Services, IT Training and Information Skills Teaching

Customer Service desks are staffed to help with information enquiries, the use of equipment and basic assistance with standard software.

IT training workshops are available throughout the academic year.

Each course has Academic Liaison Librarians who are subject specialists they

can help you with subject specific enquiries, training and support via LRC/library inductions and one to one interviews.
