So what's a bibliography?

So what's a bibliography?

selfissue

A reference list consists of those items referred to in an assignment. Your reference list should appear before your appendices.

A bibliography is a list of everything you consulted.

You may need to provide either one or both.

Presentation tips for a bibliography or reference list

  • Left-align your references
  • Use underline only for URLs (web addresses). Titles should be distinguished by italics (or bold).
  • In the Harvard system, items should be listed alphabetically by author's name. If several items are by the same author, then they should be arranged by year. If there is more than one item in the same year, alphabetically list them by the first significant word of the title. Do not create separate lists for each format (eg books, journals, websites, videos etc).
  • In the Numeric system, items should be listed in the order they are mentioned in the text.
