How to cite a thesis

References to theses should include:

(i) author

(ii) year of submission (in round brackets)

(iii) title (in italics)

(iv) level

(v) awarding body

In text:
Research into elite junior athletes suggests ... (Appleton, 2009).

Reference list:

Appleton, P.R. (2009) Examining perfectionism in elite junior athletes: measurement and development issues. Unpublished PhD thesis. University of Bedfordshire.

The details would be similar if you had consulted a third year dissertation, for example:

Luo, L. (2008) Implementation of intelligent and humanoid robot called Robonova by using ultrasonic sensor, tilt sensor and bluetooth module technology.  Unpublished dissertation. University of Bedfordshire.

Learning Resources holds a selection of such dissertations. These are intended to provide some indication of the format of the work you will be expected to produce. It would be unwise to rely solely on the academic content of such materials.
