Staff & researchers
The academic liaison librarians supporting the health courses offer a range of services to support your teaching and research activities. They visit all the sites regularly. However, you can also contact them by email or telephone.
Training
We offer a full range of information literacy training sessions, tailored to meet the Cre8 agenda. These cover everything from
- library inductions
- searching bibliographic databases
- using subject-specific resources
- evaluating sources for quality
- using information sources ethically (including referencing)
- dissertation prepartion.
Teaching Support
Quality assurance & validations
- Supporting the development and validation of new courses - suggesting resources, integrating information literacy into the curriculum.
- Committee contributions - attending Faculty and Field committees.
Resources
- Ordering resources - books, AV materials, journals, reports, ephemera.
- Reading lists - purchasing materials, advising on new materials.
- Digitisation and teaching packs - advice and help identifying resources to be digitised.
- Broadcast recordings - DVD recordings for educational purposes from terrestrial and Freeview channels.
- Offprints collection - obtaining copyright-cleared copies of journal articles.
Research Support
- Off-campus access to Digital Library.
- Current awareness alerts - help with alerts (email & RSS) to keep abreast of new publications (journal articles etc) in your field.
- Doccument supply - sourcing items external to the UoB library.
- Other libraries - arranging access to special collection.
