Using the correct referencing system

Scheme

Are you using the the correct referencing system for your course?

Your course will have decided what referencing scheme they want you to use in your assignments.

It is essential that you consult your course or unit handbook and follow the guidelines given by your tutor regarding the correct referencing system for that unit.

If you haven't got a copy of your course or unit handbook then you can check on your Subject Community on BREO or talk to your course or unit leader

The examples given in this guide follow the UoB Harvard referencing system (which some courses use).  DO NOT automatically assume that you should follow the examples given in this guide.  A few guides to other references systems are available here.

It is your responsibility to check what scheme you should be using in your assignments

Failure to follow the correct guidelines could result in you losing marks for your assignment.
